About The Position

Code Metal is redefining code translation for mission-critical industries, helping defense partners move more quickly and reliably from algorithm to silicon. Our platform accelerates deployment of DSP, RF, communications, and embedded signal processing algorithms onto heterogeneous compute targets, including GPUs, FPGAs, ASICs, and edge SoCs. We also support automotive, aerospace, and semiconductor partners deploying complex algorithms onto constrained hardware with speed and rigor.
Code Metal is hiring its first Head of Product to own the company's product strategy, organization, and operating model. The Head of Product will sit at the intersection of Engineering, customers, and go-to-market and answer a fundamental question for the company's next phase.
The Head of Product will own the product layer built on top of Code Metal's core technical capabilities, including the continued evolution of our platform and the development of new products and experiences that make those capabilities accessible to customers. The mandate is to translate powerful underlying technology into products that solve clear customer problems, are easy to understand and adopt, and create natural paths to broader platform usage.
This person will report directly the CEO and the company's technical leadership to determine what products should be built on top of Code Metal's foundational technology, for whom, and in what sequence, while partnering closely with Sales to refine packaging, positioning, and the path from initial customer entry point to broader adoption.
The successful candidate will have done this before: taken differentiated foundational technology and built compelling products on top of it, creating the product experience, packaging, customer adoption, and commercial motion required to bring that technology to market.

Requirements

• 10+ years of B2B technology sales experience, including 5+ years leading scaled Product organizations.
• A true builder who is comfortable starting with ambiguity, incomplete information, and an immature organizational structure.
• Highly technical product executive. Must understand complex technical systems well to challenge assumptions, ask incisive questions, and partner with Code Metal's engineering organization.
• Hands-on and comfortable operating without a large Product organization. This person should expect to personally conduct customer discovery, write product strategy, pressure-test requirements, support strategic deals, and drive prioritization.
• Has strong product taste and can distinguish between a customer request, a repeatable product need, and a strategically important platform investment.
• Commercially minded. Understands that great product leadership at Code Metal includes helping the company sell, package, and communicate its technology, not simply managing an engineering roadmap.
• Comfortable making hard prioritization decisions and saying no when customer requests or internal initiatives do not support the broader product strategy.
• Low ego and highly collaborative across Engineering, Growth, Sales, Solutions, and forward-deployed teams.
• Has personally taken a deeply technical product from ground zero to market, rather than primarily inheriting mature products, established roadmaps, or functioning product organizations.
• Has partnered closely with Sales to commercialize a product, including participating directly in customer conversations and learning what made the product sell, or fail to sell.
• Has strong experience working with deeply technical engineering organizations and can earn credibility with engineers, architects, and technical founders.
• Has translated emerging technical capabilities into products that can be repeatedly sold and deployed rather than remaining bespoke solutions.
• Has experience establishing product-market fit, not simply scaling after product-market fit was already established.
• Ideally has built products for developers, engineers, security teams, infrastructure teams, or other highly technical users.

Responsibilities

• Define the product strategy for Code Metal's platform and establish a clear view of where the company will, and will not, invest.
• Own the product direction and evolution of our platform and creating a coherent experience and roadmap across Code Metal's technical capabilities.
• Work closely with Engineering to identify customer problems, develop new products and capabilities, validate them with customers, and take them from concept through market launch and adoption.
• Build a disciplined approach to understanding engineering-led customers and translating their requirements into durable product insights rather than one-off feature requests.
• Establish the mechanisms for making clear product and engineering tradeoffs across customer commitments, platform investments, technical debt, and long-term strategic opportunities.
• Determine how Code Metal's capabilities are organized, positioned, and packaged into products that customers can understand and purchase.
• Partner tightly with Growth and Sales to create product narratives, use cases, demonstrations, competitive positioning, and technical enablement that make the platform easier to sell.
• Participate directly in strategic customer conversations, particularly during the company's current stage, helping Sales understand customer requirements and helping customers understand the product's technical and business value.
• Serve as the primary product counterpart to Engineering and technical leadership, ensuring customer and market priorities are translated into clear product decisions without compromising technical integrity.
• Build a high leverage, technically credible, high-output Product organization.
