Head of Growth

WorkHero•New York, NY
•$160,000 - $200,000

About The Position

WorkHero is hiring a Head of Growth to scale its growth engine and impact across the HVAC industry. WorkHero provides AI-enabled back-office support for independent HVAC contractors by combining automation with expert office teams inside the software contractors already use. The Head of Growth will own growth marketing strategy, budget, acquisition channels, conversion, and measurement, with the goal of creating a repeatable engine to acquire well-fit contractors at sustainable acquisition costs. Initial priorities include strengthening the existing acquisition funnel, improving conversion and nurture, and establishing reliable measurement before prioritizing and testing additional growth opportunities. This is a hands-on, technical role leading freelance specialists in paid media, content, and creative. There are no employee direct reports initially. As the company grows, the Head of Growth will help determine which capabilities to bring in-house and build the team. The role reports directly to co-founder and CEO Furman Haynes and has authority to set growth priorities and allocate the agreed budget.

Requirements

  • Experience building or scaling a repeatable acquisition motion with a small team.
  • Experience owning multiple acquisition channels and their budgets, and demonstrating how decisions generated qualified pipeline and customers.
  • Ability to diagnose funnel performance, choose tests, and distinguish actual performance changes from tracking problems.
  • Ability to connect channel results to qualified pipeline, acquisition cost, and customer quality.
  • Ability to independently build or troubleshoot marketing workflows and integrations.
  • Fluency in using AI to increase leverage, with experience using tools such as Claude Code, Codex, or comparable platforms to automate meaningful work.
  • Good judgment about when to build, buy, or use a simpler process.
  • Evidence of ownership, including experience fixing conversion drops, shipping content that produced pipeline, and catching bad data before it drove a decision.
  • Ability to think creatively about customer needs, adapt messaging as the product changes, and write initial content drafts.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience marketing to or selling to small business owners, contractors, or field-service teams, particularly customers with limited time, infrequent operational purchases, and a preference for trusting a person before committing.

Responsibilities

  • Own the growth plan and budget, deciding which channels to scale, test, or stop.
  • Use customer conversations and sales-call patterns to sharpen positioning, messaging, and campaigns.
  • Work with freelance content specialists to turn customer proof, industry voices, and product demonstrations into content that generates qualified pipeline.
  • Own paid performance, budget pacing, and creative testing, in partnership with the freelance media buyer.
  • Ensure conversion tracking and attribution into HubSpot are reliable.
  • Improve website and landing-page conversion, lead nurture, and re-engagement.
  • Partner with account executives to convert qualified interest into conversations and customers, with clear ownership of automated and personal follow-up.
  • Work with the content marketing team to develop content into a lifecycle marketing engine.
  • Maintain reliable funnel reporting and attribution, a useful growth forecast, and clear growth updates for leadership and the board.
  • Own underlying growth systems and simplify or replace them when doing so improves reliability and decision-making.
  • Build and maintain automations for lead enrichment and qualification, routing, follow-up, and reporting using scripts, integrations, or agents as appropriate.
  • Identify and validate new acquisition channels, potentially including outbound, search, and industry partnerships.
  • Lead the existing freelance specialist bench and help determine future in-house capabilities and hiring as the company grows.
