Head of Finance / Expert in Residence [XIR]
About The Position
Sequence is the AI-native billing and quote to cash platform for modern B2B teams. Founded by serial entrepreneurs and backed by a16z, 645 Ventures and Salesforce Ventures with a recently completed Series A round, we’re now looking for our first Head of Finance / Expert in Residence. This is a unique role for a finance operator who can act as an internal Finance leader and a subject matter expert for product & engineering teams, especially the revenue recognition squad. The role also offers an opportunity to represent Sequence with peers at events, customer/prospect calls, and onsite presentations. The Head of Finance will drive value across Finance, Product, and Go-To-Market (GTM) functions. This role reports directly to the Co-Founder / COO and will initially be supported by fractional, outsourced UK and US accounting teams.
Requirements
- Qualified accountant (CPA/ACA/ACCA/CIMA)
- Able to close books autonomously if needed
- 4+ years experience in fast-growing B2B SaaS / AI scaleups
- Experience with a hypergrowth journey
- Able to work across London / NYC time zones
- Proven track record of success for 2+ years in prior roles
Nice To Haves
- Capable of building FP&A model and preparing quarterly board updates
- Experience scaling from Series A to C+
- Comfortable in fast-paced environments
- Hands-on experience using comparable finance products (Maxio, Chargebee, Zuora, Stripe Billing)
- In-person in NYC or London
Responsibilities
- Overseeing month end close / reconciliation with our fractional teams
- Owning revenue recognition policy and audit readiness
- Hiring and bringing accounting fully inhouse
- Playing central role in product feedback and prioritization for our ASC 606 / IFRS 15 rev rec and billing modules
- Owning quarterly finance board pack
- Managing liquidity balances across bank accounts
- Establishing more robust and scalable processes & procedures across our finance stack
