Head of Finance

TrabaNew York, NY
Onsite

About The Position

Traba is building the autonomous future of industrial labor and is the AI operating layer for the industrial supply chain. They started in workforce staffing and have embedded themselves inside customer operations to create a better customer experience through technology. Now, customers are pulling them into broader operational workflows. This foundation has provided proprietary data and deep enterprise relationships. Traba is backed by Founders Fund, Khosla Ventures, and General Catalyst. They are looking for a world-class finance leader to drive scale as they enter their next chapter of growth. This role will be a strategic partner to the CEO, leading the company through its numbers, with a clear path to CFO for the right candidate.

Requirements

  • 1–2 years of investment banking followed by 4–6 years at a top-tier private equity firm (e.g., KKR, Apollo, Hellman & Friedman, Blackstone, TPG, CD&R, Bain Capital, Warburg Pincus, or equivalent), then a senior finance role (VP/SVP Finance or equivalent) at a high-growth startup.
  • Proven ability to run and win capital raise processes, with deep familiarity in structuring equity, debt, and alternative financing.
  • Strong handle on marketplace metrics — unit economics, payback periods, profitability margins, revenue retention — and an ability to connect financial strategy to real-world execution.
  • Demonstrated ability to scale manual processes into automated, repeatable ones and implement FP&A tooling at growing companies.
  • Ambitious, action-oriented, and willing to go all in alongside the team as a player-coach.
  • Direct, decisive, and a collaborative force who elevates every leader and team they work with.
  • Thrives at the intersection of strategy and execution, is deeply comfortable with ambiguity, and holds self and others to an exceptionally high standard.
  • Player-Coach with an Olympian Work Ethic and a Growth Mindset: No task is too big or too small – comfortable rolling up sleeves on a detailed reconciliation as well as presenting to a board. Works long hours, goes all in alongside the team, and holds self to the highest standard. Deeply intellectually curious, always asking why, constantly learning, and pushing self and others to grow. Sees every challenge as an opportunity to get better.
  • Finance Acumen & Rigor: Operates with extreme financial discipline. Relentless about data accuracy, stress-testing assumptions, and identifying inefficiencies others overlook. Instinctively knows where every dollar is going, challenges unnecessary spending, and ensures that Traba's financial operations are as sharp and precise as its execution speed. World-class financial modeler.
  • Strategic Partner: Thought partner to the CEO, helping refine strategy, allocate resources, and structure the company for long-term success. Has the executive presence to drive alignment across the organization.
  • Proactive Foresight: Always thinking 6–12 months ahead, proactively identifying risks and opportunities before they arrive. Keeps the company on the offense, surfacing challenges, stress-testing assumptions and ensuring that Traba stays ahead of market shifts.
  • Boardroom-Ready Communicator: Persuasive communicator who can distill complex financial data into compelling narratives for investors, the board, and executives, driving alignment and instilling confidence in high-stakes moments.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with marketplace or two-sided platform businesses
  • Legal and/or compliance acumen
  • Data & analytics experience (SQL, Tableau, Looker, etc.)
  • Experience implementing FP&A software (Oracle, Planful, Adaptive, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Financial Function: Own all FP&A and accounting operations with extreme precision — budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and controls.
  • Drive Strategic Decisions: Partner with the CEO and executive team to shape company strategy, guide resource allocation, and structure the business for long-term success.
  • Build for Scale: Streamline reporting, strengthen financial controls, enhance forecasting accuracy, and implement scalable systems and tooling across the finance function.
  • Lead Fundraising & Capital Strategy: Own investor relationships and fundraising processes. Structure and negotiate equity, debt, and alternative financing to fuel growth while minimizing dilution.
  • Be the Connective Tissue: Deeply integrate financial strategy across sales, operations, and product — acting as a force multiplier for other teams and leaders, not a roadblock.
  • Manage Risk: Anticipate and mitigate financial and regulatory risks as we scale, ensuring compliance and keeping the company ahead of market shifts and operational bottlenecks.
