About The Position

Abacum is hiring its first ever Finance Expert in Residence. The company has experienced significant growth, tripling its revenue in 2025 and successfully closing a $60 million Series B funding round. This role is crucial for investing in the voices that will define modern finance leadership. As the Expert in Residence, you will be a prominent representative of Abacum, leveraging your extensive experience in FP&A, CFO, or VP Finance roles. You will articulate the concerns of CFOs, engage with peers, build connections, and lead discussions, particularly focusing on the impact of AI on the Office of the CFO. The primary goal is to foster a stronger connection between the finance community and Abacum's offerings.

Requirements

A strong background as a finance practitioner, with experience in FP&A, a CFO role, or as an operating partner at a VC/PE firm.
Ability to engage with CFOs as a peer and discuss complex financial topics in depth.
A natural inclination for public speaking and presenting, comfortable in various settings from large conferences to intimate dinners.
Demonstrated ability to command attention and engage deeply in conversations, keynotes, fireside chats, or one-on-one discussions.
An AI-native operator and advocate, with practical experience integrating AI into workflows and a well-developed perspective on its future impact on finance.
Ability to translate AI insights into compelling content for various media (written, visual, auditory).
A nascent public presence with a natural following, built on having valuable insights to share.
Active participation in the finance community and a willingness to express strong opinions.

Responsibilities

Represent Abacum at finance industry events such as conferences, panels, and executive dinners, both in-person and online.
Act as Abacum's most visible voice within the finance community, engaging in meaningful conversations relevant to finance leaders.
Develop and promote a distinct perspective on the future of finance, including the role of AI, the evolving CFO position, and the trajectory of FP&A.
Collaborate with the marketing team to integrate this narrative into Abacum's brand identity.
Cultivate relationships with key finance leaders, operators, and practitioners to ensure Abacum remains a top-of-mind solution.
Deepen existing relationships and build new ones based on trust and credibility.
Partner with the marketing team to translate insights and relationships into scalable programs, content, and community initiatives.
