About The Position

Welocalize is seeking a native-level Hausa speaker for a confidential, large-scale AI and consumer technology programme for a global technology and communications client. This hands-on role combines linguistic evaluation of a pre-release AI model in Hausa with functional testing on client-supplied devices, including a smartphone and next-generation smart glasses. The evaluator will assess output quality and test how the product works with Hausa-language input, helping improve the experience before release. The role is performed on-site in a private, secure area of a Welocalize office. Remote and work-from-home arrangements are not available for this programme because the technology is confidential and pre-release. The successful candidate will work alongside an experienced linguist and tester and may support other linguistic projects as needed.

Requirements

  • Native-level or fully bilingual Hausa proficiency, both written and spoken, with a current understanding of everyday and technical language use.
  • Confidence using smartphones and laptops and comfort moving between iOS and Android.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to make fair, objective quality judgments.
  • Ability to work independently, follow detailed test scripts and guidelines, and explain issues clearly in English.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in software or app testing, localization quality assurance, or linguistic evaluation.

Responsibilities

  • Review pre-release AI model output in Hausa for accuracy, naturalness, appropriateness, and overall quality, including fact-checking responses against source material.
  • Compare the Hausa experience with the English experience, confirm feature parity, complete user journeys using non-English input, and test handling of non-Latin script, diacritics, right-to-left text, and mixed-language input.
  • Identify display problems, such as text being cut off, overflowing, or rendering incorrectly, and localization errors involving dates, numbers, currencies, units, or untranslated strings.
  • Document issues clearly so developers can reproduce them, including the steps taken, device and operating system, locale, build ID, and supporting evidence.
  • Retest issues after fixes are delivered and confirm whether they are resolved.
  • Provide native-level feedback on navigation, usability, and language-specific nuance.
  • Work on-site in a private, secure Welocalize office area.
  • Support other linguistic projects as needed.
