About The Position

A Haul Truck Driver operates large trucks and other heavy off-road mobile equipment to transport materials in mining, construction, or other industrial settings. The role involves safe equipment operation, inspections, reporting mechanical issues, keeping equipment clean, training other operators, and assisting with routine preventative maintenance. The position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement, and candidates are placed on the union contract salary scale at $34.97 per hour.

Requirements

• High school diploma/GED or an equivalent combination of training and work experience.
• Entry-level to intermediate experience operating heavy off-road mobile equipment.
• Ability to operate heavy equipment with a high degree of competence, skill, and proficiency.
• Effective communication skills for interacting with supervisors, coworkers, and other personnel.
• Ability to identify and resolve operational issues in a timely and efficient manner.
• Valid driver's license required to operate company vehicles.
• Clean driving record.
• Ability to pass pre-employment and random drug and alcohol screenings as per company policy.
• Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
• Ability to work overtime as needed to meet operational demands.

• Basic mechanical knowledge for understanding equipment operation and performing minor maintenance tasks.

Responsibilities

• Report unsafe mechanical conditions to the shop foreman and supervisor.
• Maintain good housekeeping practices on equipment.
• Train new equipment operators.
• Assist with routine preventative maintenance of equipment.
• Operate heavy off-road equipment safely and properly, including trucks, loaders, dozers, graders, excavators, and cranes.
• Perform pre-shift and post-shift equipment inspections and identify and report mechanical issues.
• Maintain equipment cleanliness and adhere to safety regulations.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and other personnel.
• Identify and resolve operational issues in a timely and efficient manner.
• Work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
• Work overtime as needed to meet operational demands.
