About The Position

This position is responsible for the cleaning, storage, reassembling, testing and maintenance of hatchery processing machinery. Trains operators on proper usage of equipment during processing and makes required adjustments; and performs preventative maintenance. Other duties may be assigned. The jobsite is a biosecure environment which requires showering, changing clothing and footwear before entering the facility. Appropriate clothing and footwear is provided by the Company. No jewelry may be worn on the jobsite except for medical ID jewelry and body piercings covered by appropriate clothing. Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.). Must be willing to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines.

Requirements

  • Reside in the United States to be considered for an interview.
  • At least six consecutive months of work experience with the same employer and no additional gaps in employment greater than six months with the last 36 months.
  • Respirator certification is required and maintained by testing on an annual basis.
  • Must use safe lifting techniques.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and may be required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to obtain lock out/tag out certification.
  • Must be able to regularly bend, stoop and reach above head.
  • Must be able to stand majority of shift (concrete floor); walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; talk or hear.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision; distance vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous agricultural or production experience will be considered preferred.
  • If applicant was laid-off, providing eldercare or childcare, the six month gap will be increased to 18 months.
  • Previous work history criteria will not apply to applicants who have been full time students consecutively for the last 36 months.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and maintain the PM program which includes greasing motors, grease and lubricate chains on tray wash, buggy wash, box wash and PM setters and hatchers before each set or transfer.
  • Assist maintenance supervisor with duties.
  • Change single and three phase motors.
  • Calibrate hatchers and setters.
  • Empty offal tank.
  • On call duties, calibrate pump for dispensing chemicals, dispense formaldehyde.
