About The Position

This is a fast-paced, physical position in which a Team Member will pick up, deliver, and inspect eggs to determine quality and fitness for incubation. The role involves cleaning and sanitizing, and storing eggs under controlled conditions in an egg facility. The jobsite is a biosecure environment requiring showering and changing clothing before entering the facility. Appropriate clothing and footwear are provided by the Company. No jewelry may be worn on the jobsite except for medical ID jewelry and body piercings covered by appropriate clothing. Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines.

Requirements

  • Applicants must have no disciplinary actions within the last 6 months, a point level
  • Must use safe lifting techniques.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move, up to 40 pounds repetitively items such as tray of eggs, etc.; other items, such as wheeled buggy, may be required occasionally to move up to 500 pounds.
  • Regularly required to stand majority of shift (concrete floor); walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; climbing/ladder usage; stoop/bend over occasionally; talk or hear; drive a vehicle within the farm complex; enter and exit vehicle repeatedly.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Required to work on wet, slippery surfaces and also in hot, dry, dusty, wet and cold environments.
  • Safety goggles and/or glasses, face shield, chemical gloves, waterproof apron, and farm issued footwear are required. Ear plugs will be used as needed.
  • Team member is expected to follow all applicable safety policies and procedures. These include but are not limited to Hazard Communication, Respiratory Protection, LOTO and Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Team member is expected to identify, address and mitigate safety related risks.
  • The successful candidate(s) must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

  • Pick up and delivers eggs from chicken houses to egg facility.
  • Set up and testing of egg sanitizer prior to each egg pull; properly performs egg inventory practices and records egg pull inventory.
  • Observes eggs moving on conveyors through sanitizers; observes shell color/texture and external characteristics such as streaks, shadings, discolorations, cracks.
  • Place hatching eggs on buggies and in boxes and properly label both internal/external orders.
  • Performs sanitation activities: operate and clean egg sanitizer; remove waste (egg shells, feathers, feces, etc.); clean and sanitize egg room, connecting areas, crates and flats, and vehicles; fumigation of rooms.
  • Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time or without notice, such as; preventative maintenance; places broken, dirty or other substandard eggs in container for disposal; monitors, controls, and records proper room temperatures, humidity controls; dispenses formaldehyde per schedule; properly euthanize weak, ill or injured birds in accordance with company policy.
