About The Position

This position involves working in a low-light environment with a moving conveyor belt. The primary duty is to reach for, grasp, and lift live birds weighing between two and eight pounds. The employee will then place both legs of the bird into a suspended moving shackle line conveyor. The line speed is approximately 105 birds per minute, requiring the hanging of about 27 birds per minute. Some roles may involve cutting meat away from the bone using knives or scissors. Applicants must be available to work overtime and weekends as needed. A 180-day (6 months) waiting period applies for rehire consideration, and a maximum of two previous Tyson employments will be considered for hire. Background checks may be required for certain roles.

Requirements

Good manipulation required to reach, grasp, lift and hang birds into moving shackles.
Standing majority of shift.
Use required PPE.
Must be available to work overtime and weekends as needed.
Must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

Reach to a moving conveyor belt at workstation, grasping live bird weighing from two to excess of 8 pounds.
Lift the bird from belt to suspended moving shackle line conveyor placing both legs of the bird into shackle.
Hang approximately 27 birds per minute.
Visually monitor shackles to be able to hang approx. every 4th shackle.
Perform other duties as directed by supervisor.
Potentially cut meat away from the bone using knives or scissors.
