Zoox’s internship program provides hands-on experience with advanced technology, mentorship, and opportunities to contribute to real projects. The Vehicle Systems internship pipeline covers vehicle electronics, sensors, quality, reliability, and supply chain. Depending on the team, interns may work in Advanced Hardware Engineering, Quality & Reliability, or Direct/Indirect Sourcing & Procurement. Advanced Hardware Engineering develops autonomous-driving sensors, compute, and electronics, including firmware, sensor engineering, digital signal processing, hardware stability tooling, electrical stress testing, and root cause analysis. Interns on this team must be available for a six-month internship. Quality & Reliability works to improve vehicle and supplier quality through field-failure investigations, returned-part and reliability-data analysis, supplier assessments, and part approvals. Sourcing & Procurement sources vehicle parts and supports strategic partnerships. The role involves running electrical or functional validation tests, investigating failures, building analytical and diagnostic tools to identify system issues and improve hardware stability, analyzing quality, supplier, or reliability data or supporting sourcing projects, and presenting findings to engineering, quality, and supplier stakeholders. The internship is full-time for 12 weeks, begins in May or June 2027, and requires relocation to the Bay Area, California, for its duration. Candidates must remain enrolled at an accredited college or university throughout the internship. Interns may not use proprietary information from their work in a thesis or university publication, or distribute it to anyone outside Zoox. The monthly salary range is $6,500 to $8,500, varying by geographic location and education level. Additional benefits may include medical insurance and a relocation stipend.
