About The Position

The Systems & Hardware Development Chapter at Roche designs, integrates, and sustains automated diagnostic instrumentation for pathology labs to advance cancer care. The team includes mechanical, electrical, systems, and material science engineers and technicians, and supports the full product lifecycle, from concept and verification and validation testing through manufacturing and on-market support. This 12-week, full-time paid internship is based on-site in Tucson, Arizona, with program start dates in May or June 2027. Under the guidance and supervision of experienced engineers, the intern learns and applies company concepts, policies, and procedures; follows standard practices; and contributes to projects of limited to moderate scope. The intern participates in technical team activities, collaborates on engineering projects, presents and discusses data, shares knowledge, suggests process improvements, and assists in reducing patentable inventions to practice. The internship provides hands-on experience applying classroom knowledge to real-world engineering projects. Interns learn data-driven decision-making, engineering design methodologies, analytical techniques, and aspects of Design Control, including engineering, requirements, risk management, detailed design, prototyping, integration, testing, and release. Interns receive guidance and support to develop their skills and contribute to the team. A location-based stipend is provided to help with internship costs. Relocation benefits are not available. The expected pay range for the Arizona primary location is $25.00–$52.00 per hour, determined by experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. The position qualifies for paid holiday time off benefits.
