About The Position

J.C. Newman Cigar Co. is seeking a personable and knowledgeable Guest Experience Associate to create exceptional experiences for visitors to its factory, museum, and store at El Reloj, a historic cigar factory in Tampa's Ybor City. The role combines hospitality, storytelling, guest service, and sales, representing the Newman family legacy and Tampa's cigar heritage to visitors from around the world.

The associate will help bring the history of Tampa's cigar industry to life by leading tours and other educational experiences, assisting with purchases, and ensuring guests feel welcome. The position also includes supporting store operations, answering questions, recommending merchandise, and providing information about the El Reloj District and nearby attractions.

Requirements

• High school diploma required.
• Strong verbal communication skills, including clear speaking and proper enunciation.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English.
• Passion for hospitality, guest service, and sales.
• Friendly and professional demeanor with strong interpersonal skills.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and special events as needed.
• Maintain a polished and professional appearance.
• Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 15 pounds.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during tours and guest assistance.

Responsibilities

• Create memorable guest experiences that generate positive word-of-mouth and strengthen the J.C. Newman brand.
• Lead and facilitate factory guest experiences, including guided tours, hand-rolling classes, Cigar 101, tobacco tastings, and future educational experiences.
• Learn and share information about company history, cigar manufacturing, museum exhibits, and merchandise.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
• Operate the point-of-sale system to process transactions, including purchases, discounts, returns, and applicable payment methods.
• Keep store displays stocked, organized, and visually appealing.
• Resolve guest questions and concerns professionally and with a positive attitude.
• Discuss, recommend, and sell cigars and other Factory Store merchandise.
• Provide information about the El Reloj District, nearby attractions, local activities, and directions.
• Operate the passenger elevator when needed.
