About The Position

Clay is seeking a GTM Engineer - Systems and Infrastructure to build and maintain its core GTM infrastructure, including Salesforce and its Clay instance. The role involves owning objects, functions, tables, flows, automations, and integrations to ensure a clean revenue motion and provide teams with necessary resources. This is an emerging discipline blending software operations, SFDC development, and new principles, with an opportunity to pioneer this field using Clay. The company is a fast-growing SaaS provider focused on helping organizations turn growth ideas into reality through creativity, data, signals, and AI research, having recently raised significant funding and achieved substantial revenue.

Requirements

  • 6-10 years of experience in a combination of Technical RevOps, GTM Engineering, site reliability engineering (SRE), or similar applied technical discipline.
  • At least 3 years in RevOps/Sales Ops or GTM Engineering or equivalent.
  • Proven ability to build and problem-solve using Python, JavaScript, SQL, SOQL, or TypeScript.
  • Track record of successful partnership with data engineering to develop and maintain core pipelines.
  • Experience using data warehouses, BI tools, or event-driven systems.
  • Experience building, developing, or connecting core systems like Salesforce and adjacent GTM systems.
  • Hands-on experience with CS tooling such as Gainsight, Vitally, or ChurnZero.
  • Deep hands-on Salesforce experience including Flow, custom objects, validation rules, triggers, reports, and building/maintaining CPQ and billing workflows.
  • Strong hands-on ability with APIs, webhooks, and cross-system workflow design.
  • Proven ability to operate effectively in ambiguous and fluid hypergrowth environments, driving change.
  • Ability to pull own data.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience building in Clay as a primary workflow or enrichment layer.
  • Experience in analytics engineering, data science, and/or programming languages.
  • Salesforce Administrator, Developer, or CPQ Specialist certification.
  • Experience as a software / infrastructure engineer.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build Salesforce objects, flows, validation rules, reports, and dashboards to support GTM teams.
  • Build and maintain CPQ and billing workflows within Salesforce, ensuring smooth transitions between sales, finance, and post-sale operations.
  • Act as the primary Salesforce builder for cross-functional teams (Sales, Tech Partnerships, CX, Finance, etc.), translating process needs into technical solutions.
  • Extend Clay's platform capabilities, contribute innovative ideas to the product team, dogfood new features, and act as a practitioner evangelist for Clay infrastructure and GTM Engineering.
  • Engineer the internal Clay instance for maximum scale and reliability, serving as a model for the market in developing this practice.
  • Design protocols, observability, and debugging principles to ensure high system uptime.
  • Partner with GTM leaders and frontline teams to understand the current revenue motion and identify areas for improvement.
  • Identify opportunities to automate and redesign workflows using improved systems design and AI.
  • Design for data quality through validation, governance, and structure for the GTM stack.
  • Connect Salesforce to adjacent systems using APIs, webhooks, and automation layers for seamless information flow.
  • Document all built components for understanding, trust, and extensibility.
