GTM Developer

Backblaze External Website
$110,000 - $135,000Hybrid

About The Position

Backblaze is building a GTM Engineering function by embedding engineers within the revenue organization to treat pipeline as a systems problem. As a GTM Developer, you will be part of this new function, partnering with Sales, SDR/BDR, Customer Success, Support, RevOps, and Demand Gen leadership. Your primary responsibility will be to develop internal tools, agents, and automations that enhance rep productivity and enable new operational capabilities. You will collaborate with the AI architect and demand gen lead on a small, senior team, focusing on rapid development from concept to production. This role is distinct from traditional product engineering, as the focus is on building the internal systems that support customer acquisition and retention, rather than external customer-facing features.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience as a software, product, or platform engineer, ideally with experience building internal tools or working closely with a business function.
  • Fluent in Python or TypeScript/JavaScript and comfortable building full-stack applications (e.g., Next.js, FastAPI).
  • Hands-on experience building with LLM APIs (e.g., Claude, OpenAI), including agentic workflows, tool use, and RAG patterns.
  • Shipped real automation using tools like n8n, Zapier, Make, Workato, or custom orchestration, and understanding when to use no-code versus custom code.
  • Experience with GTM systems (Salesforce, HubSpot, Outreach, Gong, ZoomInfo, Apollo, Clay) or willingness to become an expert within the first 30 days.
  • Ability to take initiative, move quickly, and operate with strong ownership.
  • Enjoy talking to non-engineers, with approximately 70% of time spent in conversations with GTM stakeholders.
  • Possess a product mindset, able to differentiate between impressive demos and tools that genuinely improve a rep's day.

Nice To Haves

  • Ex-founder, early engineer at a startup, or someone who has owned a product from 0 to 1.
  • Experience within a Sales, RevOps, or GTM function (even informally).
  • Familiarity with Clay, Default, Pocus, or other modern GTM tooling.
  • Background in B2B SaaS, infrastructure, or AI-adjacent companies.
  • Experience with data warehousing (Snowflake, BigQuery), reverse ETL (Hightouch, Census), or BI tooling.

Responsibilities

  • Embed with a GTM function, sitting with teams like SDRs, AEs, CS managers, or RevOps to understand their workflows and identify leverage points for automation.
  • Build an intelligent signal layer that ingests various signals (e.g., funding, hiring, product launches, usage, call data), enriches them using AI models and data providers, and routes them to the appropriate sales representative.
  • Develop integrations for GTM systems (Salesforce, HubSpot, Gong, Outreach, Gainsight) treating them as read/write surfaces for automated agents.
  • Ship AI agents into rep workflows to automate tasks such as surfacing relevant accounts, capturing call notes, preparing for QBRs, and feeding intelligence back into the data layer.
  • Own the full lifecycle of projects from scoping with GTM stakeholders to building, deploying, instrumenting, and iterating on solutions, with a focus on rapid prototyping and production deployment (under two weeks for most projects).
  • Translate GTM problems into effective systems by understanding the 'why' behind rep workflows and determining the best approach for automation or process improvement.
