Growth Marketer

MotherDuck•San Francisco, CA
•$130,000 - $200,000

About The Position

MotherDuck is seeking a growth and performance marketer to own creative and demand-generation execution, with strategic support from their manager. The role focuses on rapidly developing, launching, and evaluating growth experiments to increase qualified signups and sales pipeline. Current areas include landing-page and conversion testing, paid and organic campaigns, lifecycle marketing, social, webinars, events, answer engine optimization (AEO), re-engagement, and other creative growth initiatives. The marketer will own campaigns from concept through results, serving both self-serve users who need to activate and accounts that may become sales pipeline. Responsibilities include building campaign assets, running frequent experiments, ensuring reliable tracking and setup, managing social strategy and the social agency, and creating email nurture content and design. Proven campaign plays are handed to marketing operations for productionization while the marketer moves on to new experiments. MotherDuck builds a cloud-hosted version of DuckDB, designed to connect local development with cloud operations and support analytics experiences for developers and data practitioners. The company describes its team as thoughtful, passionate, and empathetic, and emphasizes a bias toward shipping, honest evaluation of results, and building a diverse team.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in performance marketing, channel marketing, demand generation, or a scrappy generalist marketing role, or a demonstrated track record of independently building growth initiatives.
  • Creative thinking and strong attention to detail.
  • Growth instincts focused on funnels and conversion rather than only impressions and reach.
  • A record of quantitative marketing results, such as signups, conversion lifts, pipeline contribution, cost per lead, or SQA.
  • Hands-on experience with HubSpot, landing-page builders, and AI tools used to work faster.
  • Strong writing skills and credibility with developer and data audiences.
  • A bias toward shipping work.
  • Experience with AEO, including improving brand visibility in AI-generated answers.
  • Hands-on paid marketing experience across Google, Meta, and LinkedIn, from audience setup through creative testing and optimization.
  • Experience building segments and audiences in Clay or a similar tool, especially for use in ad platforms or campaigns.

Nice To Haves

  • Background at a high-growth company; experience in the data or AI space is preferred.
  • Experience at a company comparable to Ramp is also considered relevant.

Responsibilities

  • Own campaigns from idea through results, including audience, messaging, channel, landing page, and conversion.
  • Develop campaigns for both self-serve signups that need activation and accounts that can become sales pipeline.
  • Build campaign assets such as landing pages, ad creative, emails, and webinar promotions.
  • Run creative growth experiments and identify opportunities in areas that are not currently owned.
  • Conduct frequent tests across landing pages, signup flows, ad creative, email, and audiences; define success measures before launch and communicate results honestly.
  • Manage campaign details that support reliable measurement, including tracking, UTMs, audience setup, and page quality assurance.
  • Own social strategy end to end, including management of the social agency.
  • Own email nurture content and design in collaboration with the manager on strategy and voice.
  • Hand proven plays to marketing operations for productionization, identify plateaus early, and discontinue ineffective plays.
  • Use AEO to improve the brand’s presence in answers from tools and services such as ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews.
  • Build and optimize paid campaigns across Google, Meta, and LinkedIn, including audience setup and creative testing.
