Growth Channel Incubation & Product Strategy Director

Microsoft•Redmond, WA
•$130,900 - $251,900

About The Position

The Growth Channel Incubation & Product Strategy Director identifies, shapes, and validates the next generation of growth capabilities across Microsoft product surfaces. Working across product strategy, engineering, marketing, customer experience, and business growth, this builder role determines where new product-led growth opportunities exist and what Microsoft should develop to realize them. The role develops growth hypotheses, translates customer and business opportunities into product and capability requirements, influences product roadmaps, and leads incubation from concept through evidence-based decisions to scale, iterate, or stop. The director establishes strategy, partnerships, success measures, and operating models for new capabilities, then transitions proven capabilities to the teams responsible for activation and scaled operations. The position builds reusable frameworks and capabilities rather than managing traditional campaigns, and advances complex initiatives through influence across organizational boundaries.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Economics, Public Relations, or a related field and 5+ years of integrated marketing, event management, marketing strategy, business planning, marketing operations, or related work experience, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience developing and influencing product, platform, channel, or customer-experience strategy in partnership with product and engineering teams.
  • Experience taking ambiguous, new opportunities from problem definition through hypothesis, pilot, measurement, and a scale, iterate, or stop recommendation.
  • Experience leading complex cross-functional initiatives across organizational boundaries and influencing senior stakeholders without direct authority.
  • Experience translating customer, business, and performance insights into product or capability requirements and executive-level recommendations.
  • Executive communication skills, including creating a compelling vision, simplifying complex choices, and building support ahead of delivery.
  • Experience partnering with engineering, product management, design, data science, privacy, legal, and marketing teams to launch new capabilities.
  • Understanding of experimentation design, product telemetry, audience signals, measurement frameworks, and growth economics.
  • Experience building incubation frameworks, capability roadmaps, operating models, or playbooks that enable successful pilots to scale.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify emerging opportunities, develop an original point of view, and convert strategy into funded, executable work.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Economics, Public Relations, or a related field and 3+ years of relevant experience, or bachelor's degree in one of those fields and 7+ years of relevant experience, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with product-led growth, lifecycle growth, growth experimentation, in-product engagement, or digital platform ecosystems.
  • Experience in large-scale consumer, commercial, platform, operating system, productivity, or artificial intelligence ecosystems.

Responsibilities

  • Identify product surfaces, customer moments, ecosystem signals, and emerging capabilities that could become growth channels, and develop recommendations on where Microsoft should invest.
  • Translate customer needs and growth opportunities into product-led growth strategies, value propositions, product requirements, experience principles, and measurable growth hypotheses.
  • Build partnerships with senior product, engineering, design, data, and marketing leaders; represent growth requirements in product planning and influence product design, instrumentation, and activation.
  • Design and lead pilots that test new channel mechanics, customer experiences, and product capabilities, setting success criteria, learning agendas, dependencies, and decision points in advance.
  • Synthesize customer, performance, technical, and business evidence to recommend whether capabilities should scale, iterate, or stop, and communicate recommendations to executive stakeholders.
  • Create reusable frameworks, design patterns, playbooks, governance, and initial operating models for applying successful concepts across products, audiences, and growth motions.
  • Define readiness criteria and partner with growth activation and channel operations leaders to hand proven capabilities over for scaled execution with clear ownership, documentation, and measurement.
  • Develop an informed view of product-led growth practices inside and outside Microsoft, apply relevant insights to Microsoft's ecosystem, and articulate a vision for evolving growth capabilities.
  • Drive clarity and momentum across complex cross-organizational initiatives without direct authority by anticipating barriers, aligning stakeholders, making tradeoffs visible, and accelerating decisions.
