About The Position

Avenues Recovery Center is hiring a Group Therapist to provide group-based clinical services at its Eastern Shore location, a 100-bed residential facility offering inpatient drug and alcohol rehabilitation. The role conducts group therapy, psychoeducation, and process groups tailored to clients’ challenges and needs; helps clients develop healthy coping skills, positive behaviors, and recovery tools; and works closely with clinical staff to monitor client challenges and progress. The therapist escalates significant client concerns to the Clinical Director, maintains thorough documentation of group sessions, and ensures clinical assessments and individual client charting are completed.

Avenues describes itself as a nationwide network of drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers with 21 locations across seven states, offering detox, residential, PHP, IOP, and outpatient services. Its Eastern Shore facility is on 7.74 acres and has a multidisciplinary staff that includes therapists, clinicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, addictions counselors, and behavioral health technicians.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in psychology, counseling, or a related field.
• Valid state licensure or certification necessary to practice in the role, such as ADT certification.
• Substance abuse experience.
• Excellent observational, collaborative, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Compassionate, dignified character that models recovery principles.
• Ability to set strong boundaries and maintain absolute confidentiality.

• Master’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct group therapy, psychoeducation, and process groups designed to meet each client’s challenges and needs.
