About The Position

Waymo is an autonomous driving technology company focused on building the Waymo Driver and bringing fully autonomous driving technology to market. The Product Management Team develops solutions to complex problems through cross-functional collaboration and by understanding customers, the business, and the technology. The Group Product Manager will define and lead the multi-year product vision, strategy, and end-to-end roadmap for robotic depot automation, including autonomous vehicle charging, automated cleaning, and vehicle inspection. The goal is to reduce cost per mile as Waymo scales globally. The role will develop requirements across onboard autonomous driving capabilities, fleet orchestration, and physical robotics hardware; align senior leaders to advance automation systems from prototypes to production; and partner with operations, strategy, partnerships, and finance on deployment plans. The position will also shape future vehicle platforms and depot infrastructure for zero-touch operations. The role requires periodic travel to depots, test facilities, operating markets, and external automation partners. The expected base salary range is $286,000–$353,000 USD. Employees are also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus program, an equity incentive plan, and company benefits, subject to eligibility requirements.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of Product Management or senior technical leadership experience building, scaling, and commercializing complex products that bridge robotics, software, and real-world operations.
  • A BS degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical engineering experience.
  • A track record of taking complex products from early prototype through scaled production deployment and transforming ambiguous, multidisciplinary problem spaces into cohesive multi-year strategies and phased execution roadmaps.
  • Strong analytical and financial acumen, including understanding how to develop NPV or ROI analyses to demonstrate project viability.
  • Demonstrated success aligning and influencing senior engineering, operations, and commercial leaders across organizational boundaries without direct authority.
  • Exceptional executive communication skills, including the ability to lead executive reviews and debate system architecture with principal engineers.
  • Ability to travel periodically to depots, test facilities, operating markets, and external automation partners.

Nice To Haves

  • Direct leadership experience in robotics, industrial or warehouse automation, EV charging infrastructure, or autonomous vehicles.
  • Deep familiarity with industrial and robotic safety architectures, including cobot/EHS standards and perception/latency trade-offs.
  • An advanced technical degree (MS/PhD) or MBA alongside a strong engineering foundation.

Responsibilities

  • Define and lead the multi-year product vision, strategy, and end-to-end roadmap for robotic depot automation, including autonomous vehicle charging, automated cleaning, and vehicle inspection.
  • Develop product requirements spanning onboard autonomous driving capabilities, such as high-precision parking, fleet orchestration, and physical robotics hardware.
  • Align senior leaders across operations, engineering, and product to develop automation systems from prototypes through production deployments.
  • Partner with operations, strategy, partnerships, and finance to define rollout plans across owned-and-operated and partner-operated deployments.
  • Shape the design of next-generation autonomous vehicle platforms and depot infrastructure so future fleets are architected for zero-touch operations.
