Groundskeeper - Vista del Campo
About The Position
The Groundskeeper maintains buildings and grounds, including common areas and amenities, to support the cleanliness, upkeep, and curb appeal of an American Campus Communities student housing property. The role includes interior and exterior cleaning, groundskeeping and trash collection, and assistance with service team tasks such as work orders, furniture movement, supply storage, apartment make-ready work, property turnover, pool maintenance when applicable, and pressure washing. The employee safely operates facility equipment and keeps shops, storage areas, and back-of-house environments clean and organized. Additional duties may be assigned by the supervisor. Training is provided, and opportunities may be available to gain certifications, support nearby properties, and grow professionally. The role supports a culture of inclusion, diversity, equality, accountability, and shared responsibility for maintaining the community. The employee serves as an American Campus representative and liaison in interactions. Certain activities may be recorded for quality control or training; compliance with the Photo, Video and Voice Recording Policy is a condition of employment.
Requirements
- Ability to drive a golf cart.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
- Knowledge of general labor, housekeeping, and cleaning tasks.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to understand and follow MSDS rules for handling and using chemicals.
- Ability to understand and carry out written or verbal multi-step instructions.
- Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily; reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with or willingness to learn general labor and property (apartment) maintenance.
- Prior facilities maintenance experience is helpful but not required.
Responsibilities
- Clean the interior and exterior of the property to established standards.
- Maintain property grounds, including collecting trash.
- Vacuum, mop, and/or shampoo floors in resident rooms and common areas, and stock bathrooms.
- Assist the service team with work orders, moving furniture, and unloading and storing supplies.
- Support apartment make-ready duties, including trash-outs, cleaning, and painting.
- Assist with the property turnover process.
- Support pool maintenance, if applicable, and pressure washing.
- Safely operate facility equipment and follow safety protocols and best practices.
- Keep shops, storage areas, and back-of-house environments clean and orderly, with tools and supplies organized.
- Serve as an American Campus representative and liaison in all interactions.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
