About The Position

The Groundskeeper is a part-time, non-exempt position responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, appearance, safety, and overall presentation of the exterior grounds surrounding the DoubleTree by Hilton Miami Airport Convention Center. The role helps provide a clean, welcoming, and professional environment for hotel guests, convention attendees, team members, and visitors. The position is 100% on-site and reports to the Maintenance Assistant Manager. The Groundskeeper performs routine exterior cleanup and upkeep, including removing litter and natural debris, maintaining walkways and parking areas, and assisting with basic landscaping. The role also involves monitoring the property for maintenance issues and safety hazards, supporting exterior setup and cleanup for events, and coordinating with other hotel departments to maintain property standards.

Requirements

Previous groundskeeping, landscaping, janitorial, custodial, or general maintenance experience is preferred.
Ability to work outdoors in South Florida heat, humidity, rain, and changing weather conditions.
Ability to safely lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment weighing over 50 pounds as required.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the shift, with reasonable accommodation where applicable.
Ability to operate basic groundskeeping equipment, such as leaf blowers, rakes, brooms, and carts, after appropriate instruction.
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and complete assigned tasks independently.
Strong attention to detail, reliability, and commitment to cleanliness and safety.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays, as required by hotel operations.

Responsibilities

Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of exterior areas surrounding the hotel and convention center.
Conduct routine property walks and remove litter, leaves, branches, palm fronds, and other debris.
Collect, empty, and dispose of trash from exterior receptacles and designated property areas.
Keep entrances, porte-cochère, sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, loading areas, and convention center exterior spaces clean and presentable.
Remove debris from landscaped areas, outdoor common areas, curbs, and perimeter walkways.
Assist with basic landscaping, including weeding, sweeping, raking, and maintaining planted areas.
Sweep, blow, and clean exterior surfaces as needed.
Monitor outdoor areas for excessive debris, overgrown vegetation, fallen limbs, and other conditions requiring attention.
Assist with property cleanup after storms, heavy rain, or high winds within assigned duties and safety guidelines.
Maintain exterior presentation in support of Hilton brand standards and property cleanliness expectations.
Inspect assigned exterior areas and address cleanliness concerns promptly.
Keep trash collection areas clean, orderly, and free of overflowing waste.
Assist with exterior setup, cleanup, and general maintenance support for conventions, meetings, special events, and other property functions.
Maintain a clean and professional appearance around guest and employee entrances, service areas, and event access points.
Maintain a professional appearance and courteous demeanor when interacting with guests, convention attendees, vendors, and team members.
Respond promptly to requests for exterior cleanup and assistance.
Collaborate with Engineering, Housekeeping, Security, and other departments to maintain property standards.
Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
