About The Position

The Groundskeeper maintains property grounds through landscape care and related upkeep. Duties include mowing and edging lawns, trimming bushes and trees, planting flowers and shrubs, applying lawn-care chemicals as needed, watering plantings, and removing snow and ice. The position also involves maintaining landscape equipment and sprinkler systems, removing litter, cleaning outdoor areas, performing basic carpentry and painting, and keeping work areas safe. On-the-job training is provided. No prior experience or high school diploma, GED, or college degree is required.

Requirements

Must be 18 years of age or older.
Must have a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

Maintain property grounds.
Ensure proper maintenance of mowers, blowers, and sprinkler systems.
Perform landscape maintenance, including leaf removal, pruning shrubs and trees, fertilizing, lawn care, and watering.
Remove litter and empty trash cans.
Clean roads, parking lots, and walks to ensure the safety of pedestrian and vehicular traffic.
Perform basic carpentry and painting tasks.
Remove ice and snow from walks, roads, and lots, including applying ice melter and road sand.
Establish new plants and plantings in landscapes and through greenhouse culture.
Use manual and automatic watering systems to provide adequate moisture for plantings.
Perform equipment safety checks and recommend necessary changes to the leader.
Maintain safe work areas during and after work projects.
Clean spills as needed, including body fluids.
Mow and edge lawns; trim bushes and trees; plant bushes and flowers; and apply lawn-care chemicals as needed.
