About The Position

The Grounds Department is accountable for performing the full range of basic tasks in the cleaning and maintenance of campus grounds. This includes but is not limited to maintenance of lawns, trees, shrubs, flowerbeds including plant removal. Duties include all aspects of snow removal: plowing, shoveling, ice control application, clearing walks and stairways, etc. Preventative maintenance of equipment such as changing oil and filters, greasing, tune-ups, etc. This student employment opportunity supports the development of skills aligned with the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) Career Readiness Competencies. MUST BE A STUDENT AT SAINT XAVIER UNIVERSITY
Must be Federal Work Study Eligible

Responsibilities

Performs set-up for athletic and/or other university functions.
Maintains assigned campus grounds work area and equipment in a neat, clean and safe working condition.
Immediately reports any and all unsafe conditions to supervisor/manager.
Operate all equipment, including plows, forklift and pickup trucks.
All aspects of snow removal, including plowing, shoveling, applications of ice control material, clearing walks and stairways, etc.
General litter pick-up and campus refuse removal.
Preventive maintenance of service center vehicles and equipment, such as changing oil and filters, greasing, tune ups, etc.
Maintenance of trees, lawns, and shrubs, including plant removal.
Plants and maintains flowerbeds.
General preparation and clean up of construction projects as well as minor construction in areas related to grounds keeping.
Install and remove campus signage/banners.
Assist with inter office furniture moves when needed. Stores and installs outdoor patio furniture.
Performs minor maintenance.
