The groundskeeper is responsible for managing the landscaping requirements of assigned areas by keeping the grounds clean of trash, debris and anything else that could upset an otherwise orderly condition. This role supports the mission of the University and serves as an ambassador of the Q2 culture of service excellence. The groundskeeper will manage and maintain campus vegetation, maintain the cleanliness of campus grounds by removing trash, debris and other refuse, and assist with special event set-up, security and clean-up. Additionally, this role involves providing repairs and minor adjustments to machinery and equipment, maintaining all tools and equipment, and performing seasonal management to prepare the grounds by performing tasks that include trimming trees and bushes, removing moss and fertilizing. The groundskeeper must adhere strictly to safety standards and practices, prune, trim and stake trees, shrubs and other vegetation, treat vegetation for insects and use pesticides, fertilizers and other appropriate chemicals to remove weeds. The role also includes excavating holes and trenches for lights, sprinklers and other equipment, removing weeds and other debris from mulched areas and flowerbeds, and planting seeds, bulbs, flowers, shrubs, trees and other vegetation in designated areas. Job may require other duties as assigned.
