About The Position

The Grounds Maintenance Laborer maintains the interior and exterior of buildings, grounds, and roadways, and performs minor repairs to structures and equipment. The role is located onsite in Oceanside, California. Work is performed outdoors and may involve temperature extremes, inclement weather, physical hazards, and varied surfaces. Work hours may change, and weekend work or long hours may be required. The employee performs landscaping, groundskeeping, cleanup, loading and moving materials, basic repairs, and routine maintenance of equipment. The position pays $20.71 per hour plus $5.09 per hour H&W Fringe Cash-Out, for a stated total of $25.80 per hour.

Requirements

Must be a United States citizen or eligible to work in the United States.
At least 6 months of experience with mowing and landscape equipment.
Ability to work with little or no supervision.

Responsibilities

Mow grass using walk-behind or riding mowers weighing less than 2,000 pounds.
Trim hedges and edges around walkways, flower beds, and walls using hedge trimmers, clippers, and edging tools.
Clean walks, drives, and parking areas using a landscape blower or vacuum.
Prune shrubs and trees using shears and other hand tools.
Apply fertilizer, herbicide, and/or insecticide to lawns, shrubs, and trees.
Plant grass, trees, flowers, and shrubs, and water lawns and shrubs.
Perform litter and debris cleanup and weed plant and ornamental landscape beds.
Repair and paint fences, gates, benches, buildings, and equipment.
As assigned, clean comfort stations, offices, workshops, residential units, or parking areas by sweeping, washing, mopping, and polishing.
As assigned, assist with the spill response team.
Load and unload trucks and other conveyances.
Move supplies and materials using wheelbarrows or hand trucks.
Collect refuse and salvageable materials.
Dig, fill, and tamp excavations; level ground using a pick, shovel, tamper, and rake.
Clean culverts and ditches, and cut trees and brush.
Operate power tools, including chain saws, lawnmowers, weed eaters, edgers, and blowers.
Wash, wax, vacuum, and polish vehicles and equipment.
Move heavy machinery and equipment.
Pick up leaves and trash.
Meet safety performance standards and complete all work safely.
Report accidents, injuries, near misses, and hazardous situations promptly.
Perform minor routine maintenance on equipment used in daily work.
Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
