About The Position
Waste Connections is hiring a Grounds Maintenance Laborer in Wichita, Kansas. The role involves general property and yard maintenance, repairs, container assembly and cleaning, and operating a skid steer. The employee may work indoors in a shop or outdoors, including repairing trucks on the road. Tools are provided. The schedule is 6 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturdays. Pay is $17–$21 per hour.
Requirements
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to read, write, comprehend, and communicate in English.
- Organizational skills.
- Willingness to clean up hazardous spills.
- Ability to perform strenuous physical work, including lifting, pushing, or pulling objects over 50 pounds.
Responsibilities
- Repair property damage, including enclosure walls and fencing.
- Organize truck parts.
- Perform general repairs in and around the property.
- Operate a skid steer.
- Assemble, repair, and wash trash and recycling containers.
- Perform general yard maintenance.
- Clean up hazardous spills when needed.
- Communicate effectively and understand needed repairs and tasks.
- Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards.
- Assist managers and others with additional duties as assigned.
