About The Position

Ensure the temple grounds reflect the beauty, cleanliness, and sacred nature of the temple experience while maintaining standards established by the First Presidency. Perform groundskeeping and gardening work, caring for landscaped areas, sidewalks, driveways, building entrances, and other assigned areas. Work under limited supervision.

This is a temporary, part-time, six-month fixed-term position at the Oquirrh Mountain Utah Temple. Church employees use their talents and abilities to further the Church’s work. Employment is limited to Church members worthy of a temple recommend. Requirements

• Experience in grounds maintenance, horticulture, gardening, agriculture, landscape design, or a related field.
• Ability to follow directions and work independently and with a team.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Must be a Church member worthy of a temple recommend.

Responsibilities

• Mow lawns using hand and power mowers.
• Maintain the original landscape plan by planting perennials, shrubs, and trees.
• Trim and edge around walls, flower beds, and walks using hand clippers and power edging tools.
• Operate heavy tractors and other large power equipment as needed to maintain the landscape.
• Prune and shape shrubs and trees to support optimum plant growth and enhance the beauty of the grounds.
• Spray lawns, shrubs, and trees for disease, weed, and insect control, and fertilize as needed in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
• Ensure power equipment and machines are properly maintained.
• Water lawn and garden areas.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
