About The Position

The Groundman position is an entry point to a career in the construction and maintenance of the nation's power grid. The employee assists a team in building, repairing, and maintaining overhead electrical distribution systems and reports to the Foreman. The role involves working outdoors in varying and sometimes extreme weather and construction-site conditions, performing rigorous physical labor, maintaining vehicles, equipment, and tools, and following safety procedures, including appropriate PPE use and inspection. The employee must be available for outages, storms, emergencies, and on-call rotation, as well as travel to extended and potentially out-of-state assignments.

Requirements

Valid driver's license and ability to obtain a CDL within 60 days.
Willingness to travel long distances on short notice.
Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
Ability to work for extended periods at job locations, including out-of-state assignments.
Willingness to work outside normal business hours, including weekends, holidays, emergency callouts, and overtime.

Responsibilities

Perform new construction, maintenance, and repair of overhead distribution systems while prioritizing safety.
Assist with installing and repairing overhead power lines, poles, insulators, conductors, and related hardware.
Maintain company vehicles, equipment, and tools in good working order.
Follow safety protocols, use PPE appropriately, and understand insulated protective cover used to isolate differences of potential.
Inspect rubber goods and personal protective equipment.
Work outdoors in varying environmental conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, wind, and inclement weather.
Be available for outages, storms, emergencies, and on-call rotation.
Perform rigorous physical labor.
