About The Position

The Groundman assists a team in building, repairing, and maintaining underground electrical distribution systems. This is an entry point into work involving the construction and maintenance of the nation's power grid. The position reports to the Foreman and includes outdoor work at construction sites in varying and sometimes extreme weather conditions. The role involves rigorous physical labor and may require travel, extended assignments, emergency callouts, and work outside normal business hours.

Requirements

Have a valid driver's license and be able to obtain a CDL within 60 days.
Be willing to travel long distances on short notice and work extended periods at job locations, including out-of-state assignments.
Be able to lift, carry, push, or pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
Be willing to work outside normal business hours, including weekends, holidays, emergency callouts, and overtime.
Be able to meet the physical demands of standing, walking, handling objects, operating tools or controls, and reaching with hands and arms.

Responsibilities

Perform new construction, maintenance, and repairs on underground distribution systems while prioritizing safety.
Help install and repair underground facilities, conductors, and related hardware.
Maintain excavation and pulling equipment, including backhoes, trenchers, and excavators.
Follow safety protocols, use PPE appropriately, and understand the use of insulated protective cover to isolate differences of potential.
Inspect rubber goods and personal protective equipment.
Work outdoors in heat, cold, rain, wind, storms, and other inclement conditions.
Be available for outages, storms, emergencies, and on-call rotation.
Communicate by talking, listening, and using hand signals.
