About The Position

The Groundman position is an entry step in a career building, repairing, and maintaining the nation's power grid. The employee assists a team with overhead electrical distribution systems and reports to the Foreman. The role involves outdoor work in varying and sometimes extreme weather conditions, strenuous physical labor, and availability for outages, storms, emergencies, and on-call rotation.

Requirements

• Valid driver's license.
• Able to obtain a CDL within 60 days.
• Willingness to travel long distances on short notice.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Willingness to work for extended periods at job locations, including out-of-state assignments.
• Willingness to work outside normal business hours, including weekends, holidays, emergency callouts, and overtime.
• Ability to talk, listen, and use hand signals to communicate.
• Ability to stand, walk, handle objects, operate tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms.

Responsibilities

• Perform new construction, maintenance, and repairs on overhead distribution systems while prioritizing safety.
• Help install and repair overhead power lines, poles, insulators, conductors, and related hardware.
• Maintain company vehicles, equipment, and tools in good working order.
• Follow safety protocols, use PPE appropriately, and understand insulated protective cover used to isolate differences of potential.
• Inspect rubber goods and personal protective equipment.
• Work outdoors in varying environmental conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, wind, and inclement weather.
• Be available for outages, storms, emergencies, and on-call rotation.
• Perform rigorous physical labor.
