About The Position

Lucas Tree Experts is hiring a Ground Operations Technician/Arborist Trainee for a full-time, year-round outdoor role in Sparta, North Carolina. No tree-industry experience is necessary; the company provides free, paid on-the-job training, including CDL training, for candidates willing and able to learn the trade. The role involves outdoor physical labor and learning skills in felling, climbing, rigging, equipment operation, and vegetation management. The company offers licensing and certification support, with wage increases for each credential obtained.

Requirements

• Be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Have a current, valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Be able to work 45 hours per week.
• Be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Be physically able to perform the job, including walking on uneven ground and carrying 75 pounds.
• Be willing to work at varying heights.
• Be willing and able to learn to operate a bucket truck and equipment safely.
• Be willing and able to obtain a CDL A or B license.
• Be willing and able to obtain and maintain position-related licenses and certifications.
• Successfully complete a post-offer physical and drug screen, background check, and motor vehicle check.

Responsibilities

• Manually remove vegetation from work areas.
• Apply pesticides.
• Safely operate forestry equipment, including skidders, mowers, chainsaws, and ATVs.
• Perform line clearance, pruning, and removals.
• Learn to operate a bucket truck and other equipment safely.
• Obtain and maintain licenses and certifications required for career advancement.
