About The Position

As a Bather/Student Groomer (Groom Tech) at Pet Supplies Plus, you provide friendly service to people and their pets while delivering grooming services and helping maintain a safe, welcoming grooming environment. The role offers the opportunity to learn grooming skills through a free, paid online distance program at the Paragon School of Pet Grooming for those interested in becoming a Groomer. Upon hire, candidates enrolling in the Paragon school receive a free tool kit valued at over $600.

You will learn to bathe and style dogs to breed standards, become comfortable using grooming tools and equipment, and complete Safety Training certification. The role also involves building relationships with customers, recommending products and services to support pets’ health, completing routine cleaning, and assisting store team members during grooming downtime. Candidates must be at least 18 years old and pass a validated selection test and, where applicable, a drug screening.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to move or lift merchandise, equipment, or pets weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand, bend, or stoop for extended periods.
• Ability to review videos and take tests online.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must pass a validated selection test and a drug screening in applicable states.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in retail or another industry working with pets; experience is not required.
• Interest in becoming a Groomer and enrolling in the Paragon School of Pet Grooming.

Responsibilities

• Provide grooming services, including brushing, bathing, and trimming pets’ nails.
• Learn and demonstrate the skills necessary to become a groomer through the online distance program.
• Ensure the wellness and safety of pets.
• Build long-term relationships with customers by understanding their needs and recommending products and services to support pet health and happiness.
• Perform routine cleaning to maintain an inviting grooming environment.
• Successfully complete Safety Training certification.
• Assist store team members during grooming downtime.
• Attend free, paid training through the Paragon School of Pet Grooming if pursuing a future as a Groomer.
• Learn to bathe and style dogs to breed standards and become comfortable with grooming tools and equipment.
