Groom Student / Groom Tech (Bather)
About The Position
Pet Supplies Plus is hiring a Bather/Student Groomer (Groom Tech) to provide grooming services and neighborly customer service while learning the skills needed to become a groomer. The role includes brushing, bathing, trimming nails, and helping ensure the wellness and safety of pets. Candidates interested in becoming groomers can attend free, paid training through the Paragon School of Pet Grooming and learn through an online distance program. Upon hire, participants enrolling in the Paragon school receive a free tool kit valued at over $600. Groom Techs build relationships with customers by learning about their needs and recommending products and services that support pet health and happiness. They also maintain a clean, inviting grooming environment, complete safety training, and assist store team members during grooming downtime. The position requires flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, along with the ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 50 pounds and standing, bending, or stooping for extended periods. Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Ability to move or lift merchandise, equipment, or pets weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, bend, or stoop for extended periods.
- Ability to review videos and take tests online.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must pass a validated selection test and, in applicable states, a drug screening.
Nice To Haves
- Experience in retail or another industry working with pets; experience is not required.
- Interest in becoming a groomer and attending Paragon School of Pet Grooming.
Responsibilities
- Provide grooming services, including brushing, bathing, and trimming pets’ nails.
- Learn and demonstrate the skills needed to become a groomer through the online distance program.
- Ensure the wellness and safety of pets.
- Build long-term relationships with customers by understanding their needs and recommending products and services that support pet health and happiness.
- Perform routine cleaning to maintain a fun and inviting grooming environment.
- Complete Safety Training certification.
- Assist store team members during grooming downtime.
- Attend free, paid Paragon School of Pet Grooming training if pursuing a future grooming role.
- Become comfortable using grooming tools and equipment and learn to bathe and style dogs to breed standards.
