About The Position

Pet Supplies Plus is hiring a Bather/Student Groomer (Groom Tech) who is passionate about people and pets and provides friendly, neighborly service. The role provides grooming services while developing the skills needed to become a groomer. Employees interested in becoming groomers can attend free, paid training through the Paragon School of Pet Grooming and learn through an online distance program. Upon hire, eligible employees enrolling in the Paragon school receive a free tool kit valued at over $600. The position also involves keeping pets safe and well, building relationships with customers, maintaining a clean grooming environment, and assisting store team members during grooming downtime.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to move or lift merchandise, equipment, or pets weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand, bend, or stoop for extended periods.
• Ability to review videos and take tests online.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must pass a validated selection test and, in applicable states, a drug screening.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in retail or another industry working with pets; not required.
• Interest in becoming a groomer and enrolling in the Paragon School of Pet Grooming.

Responsibilities

• Provide grooming services, including brushing, bathing, and nail trimming.
• Attend free, paid Paragon School of Pet Grooming training if interested in becoming a groomer.
• Learn and demonstrate the skills necessary to become a groomer through the online distance program.
• Learn to bathe and style dogs to breed standards.
• Use grooming tools and equipment.
• Ensure the wellness and safety of pets receiving services.
• Build long-term relationships with customers by understanding their needs and recommending products and services for their pets.
• Clean routinely to maintain an inviting grooming environment.
• Complete Safety Training certification.
• Assist store team members during grooming downtime.
• Provide exceptional, neighborly service to customers and their pets.
