Groom Student / Groom Tech (Bather)
About The Position
Pet Supplies Plus is hiring a Bather/Student Groomer (Groom Tech) to provide grooming services and neighborly customer service while learning the skills needed to become a groomer. The role includes free, paid training through the Paragon School of Pet Grooming for employees interested in becoming groomers. Upon hire, eligible employees who enroll in the Paragon school receive a free tool kit valued at over $600. The Groom Tech helps keep pets safe and well cared for, builds relationships with customers, recommends relevant products and services, and maintains a clean, inviting grooming environment. Employees may also assist store team members during grooming downtime. The company describes its stores as friendly, neighborly environments focused on pet products and services.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Ability to move or lift merchandise, equipment, or pets weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, bend, or stoop for extended periods.
- Ability to review videos and take tests online.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must pass a drug screening in applicable states and a validated selection test.
Nice To Haves
- Experience in retail or another industry working with pets; this is not required.
- Interest in becoming a groomer and enrolling in the Paragon School of Pet Grooming.
Responsibilities
- Provide grooming services such as brushing, bathing, and trimming pets’ nails.
- Learn and demonstrate the skills necessary to become a groomer through the online distance program.
- Attend free, paid Paragon School of Pet Grooming training if interested in becoming a groomer.
- Become familiar with grooming tools and equipment and learn to bathe and style dogs to breed standards.
- Ensure the wellness and safety of pets.
- Build long-term relationships with customers by understanding their needs and recommending products and services for their pets.
- Perform routine cleaning to maintain a fun and inviting grooming environment.
- Complete Safety Training certification.
- Assist store team members during grooming downtime.
- Provide exceptional, neighborly service to customers and their pets.
