About The Position

The Grocery Retail Associate (Store Clerk) supports daily store operations and delivers a positive shopping experience for customers. The role includes cashiering, stocking, cleaning, and assisting customers throughout the store. The ideal candidate is dependable, customer-focused, and able to work in a fast-paced retail environment while maintaining a positive attitude and strong work ethic.

The Associate performs assigned duties that support daily operations, customer service, and company standards. The role has no supervisory or managerial authority and operates under the direction of store or department leadership. The employee may be asked to perform additional tasks or take on other duties as assigned to support business needs. A uniform dress code must be followed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to reach, bend, balance, lift, and carry items weighing 20–50 pounds regularly; items over 50 pounds require a coordinated team lift.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, squat, and twist for extended periods.
• Ability to push and pull carts and equipment.
• Ability to work with exposure to cold, heat, and cleaning chemicals.

Nice To Haves

• Bilingual in Spanish and English.
• Prior retail or grocery experience.
• Cash-handling or POS experience.
• Ability to tailor messaging to meet the needs of diverse customers and team members.
• Takes initiative and completes work with speed and accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Operate a cash register accurately and follow checkout and cash-handling procedures for cash, credit/debit, EBT, WIC, gift cards, coupons, and checks.
• Promote customer satisfaction by providing excellent service and addressing complaints and feedback effectively.
• Report to scheduled shifts on time and prepared to work.
• Stock, rotate, and maintain merchandise in grocery, frozen, dairy, meat, and produce departments.
• Assist with unloading delivery trucks and organizing products.
• Maintain clean, safe, and organized store conditions, including the sales floor, restrooms, backroom, displays, and parking lot.
• Retrieve shopping carts and maintain entrance areas.
• Provide friendly, professional customer service.
• Maintain proper product signage, pricing, and display standards.
• Support other departments and complete additional duties as assigned.
• Adhere to the uniform dress code.
