About The Position

The Associate reports directly to the Store Manager and indirectly to the Assistant Store Managers. This non-management role performs cashiering, stocking, cleaning, perishables monitoring, and other duties as assigned. The Associate provides excellent customer service and helps maintain daily store conditions while following Leevers Supermarkets policies and procedures. The position has no direct or indirect supervisory responsibilities and no authority to make decisions concerning hiring, firing, promotions, demotions, or other tangible employment actions.

Requirements

Must be at least 16 years old; applicants who are 15 must have a parent letter and school authorization letter.
Excellent teamwork and problem-solving skills.
Basic math proficiency, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Basic computer skills.
Dependability and flexibility to work scheduled shifts and in other store areas as needed, sometimes with little or no advance notice.
Must adhere to safety standards.
Ability to understand situations quickly, figure things out, and resolve issues.
Good attitude toward work and ability to accomplish goals using methods established by store managers while satisfying customers.
Ability to respect and work well with managers, coworkers, and customers; share information; and teach others.
Ability to follow rules and policies and desire to learn new things.
Ability to reach, bend, balance, lift, and transport objects weighing 20–50 pounds repeatedly during a shift; products may sometimes weigh 50–80 pounds.
Ability to stand, walk, or move about for extended periods.
Ability to push, pull, grasp, twist, and use sawing motions for extended periods.
Ability to work regularly in freezers, coolers, and refrigerators; inside and outside the store in all weather conditions; and inside delivery trucks.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent.
Spanish or other language proficiency may be a plus at certain locations.

Responsibilities

Maintain schedule adherence and punctuality.
Operate the cash register efficiently and meet or exceed checkout performance standards, accurately handling and counting cash, EBT, debit cards, credit cards, WIC vouchers, gift cards, and coupons.
Follow checkout and cash-handling procedures and policies.
Handle, stock, and maintain grocery, frozen, dairy, smoked meat, and other perishable products according to company standards.
Assist with unloading delivery trucks and stocking products on platforms, shelves, peg hooks, in baskets, and in refrigerated cases.
Use power and non-powered equipment and hand tools to move stock after receiving proper training.
Retrieve carts from the parking lot.
Maintain excellent store conditions and a safe, clean working environment.
Complete assigned cleaning duties, including cleaning floors, windows, display cases, shelves, register areas, backrooms, restrooms, parking lots, and other fixtures.
Provide friendly and courteous customer service.
Assist store management with training other store employees.
Maintain proper rotation of dated and undated products.
Ensure products have price tags or signs and are displayed according to company guidelines.
Protect company property, funds, and merchandise.
Display, trim, package, and fill authorized fresh produce properly.
Assist Fresh Meat personnel as needed, including wrapping packages, weighing and tagging products with scales, and stocking meat packages.
Perform other duties, including working in other store areas, as assigned.
