About The Position

The Associate reports directly to the Store Manager and indirectly to the Assistant Store Managers. This non-management position performs a variety of store duties, including cashiering, stocking, cleaning, and monitoring perishable products. The Associate provides excellent customer service and helps maintain daily store conditions while completing duties in accordance with Leevers Supermarkets policies and procedures. The role has no direct or indirect supervisory responsibilities and no authority over hiring, firing, promotions, demotions, or other tangible employment actions. The work may include cashiering and handling payments, receiving and stocking merchandise, retrieving carts, maintaining cleanliness and safety, rotating and displaying products, preparing fresh produce, and assisting Fresh Meat personnel. Duties may also include working in other store areas as assigned.

Requirements

Must be at least 16 years old, or 15 with a parent letter and school authorization letter.
Excellent teamwork and problem-solving skills.
Basic math proficiency, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Basic computer skills.
Dependability and flexibility to work scheduled shifts and in other store areas as needed, potentially with little or no advance notice.
Must adhere to safety standards.
Ability to understand situations quickly, figure things out, and resolve issues.
Positive attitude toward work, ability to accomplish goals using methods specified by store managers, and ability to satisfy customers.
Ability to respect and work well with managers, coworkers, and customers; share information; and teach others.
Ability to follow rules and policies and a desire to learn.
Ability to reach, bend, balance, lift, and transport objects weighing 20–50 pounds repeatedly during a shift; product may sometimes weigh 50–80 pounds.
Ability to stand, walk, or move about for extended periods.
Ability to push, pull, grasp, twist, and use sawing motions for extended periods.
Ability to work regularly in freezers, coolers, refrigerators, inside and outside the store in all weather conditions, and inside delivery trucks.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent.
Proficiency in Spanish or other languages, which is a plus at certain locations.

Responsibilities

Maintain schedule adherence and punctuality.
Operate a cash register efficiently and meet checkout performance standards, including transaction speed and accurate handling of cash, EBT, debit and credit cards, WIC vouchers, gift cards, and coupons.
Follow checkout and cash-handling procedures and policies.
Handle, stock, and maintain grocery, frozen, dairy, smoked meat, and other perishable products according to company standards.
Assist with unloading delivery trucks and stock products on platforms, shelving, peg hooks, in baskets, and in refrigerated cases as needed.
Use power and non-powered equipment and hand tools to move stock after receiving proper training.
Retrieve carts from the parking lot.
Maintain excellent store conditions and a safe, clean working environment.
Complete assigned cleaning duties, including cleaning floors, windows, display cases, shelves, register areas, backrooms, restrooms, parking lots, and other fixtures.
Provide friendly and courteous customer service.
Assist store management with training other store employees.
Maintain proper rotation of dated and undated products.
Ensure products have price tags or signs and are displayed according to company guidelines.
Protect company property, funds, and merchandise.
Properly display, trim, package, and fill authorized fresh produce.
Assist Fresh Meat personnel as needed, including wrapping packages, weighing and tagging products, and stocking meat packages.
Perform other assigned duties, including working in other store areas.
