About The Position

The Associate reports directly to the Store Manager and indirectly to the Assistant Store Managers. This non-management position performs cashiering, stocking, cleaning, and perishables-related duties while providing excellent customer service and helping maintain daily store conditions. All duties are performed in accordance with Leevers Supermarkets policies and procedures. The position supervises no associates and has no authority to make employment decisions such as hiring, firing, demotions, or promotions. Duties may vary by department or location, and the Associate may be assigned to other areas of the store.

Requirements

Must be at least 16 years old; applicants age 15 may qualify with a parent letter and school authorization letter.
Excellent teamwork and problem-solving skills.
Basic math proficiency, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Basic computer skills.
Dependability and flexibility to work scheduled shifts, including willingness to work in other store areas with little or no advance notice.
Must adhere to safety standards.
Able to understand issues quickly and resolve them.
Able to maintain a positive attitude, accomplish goals using methods directed by store managers, and satisfy customers.
Able to respect and work well with managers, coworkers, and customers, share information, and teach others.
Able to follow rules and policies and show a desire to learn.
Able to repeatedly reach, bend, balance, lift, and transport objects weighing 20–50 pounds throughout the shift; product may sometimes weigh 50–80 pounds.
Able to stand, walk, or move about for extended periods.
Able to push, pull, grasp, twist, and use sawing motions for extended periods.
Able to work regularly in freezers, coolers, refrigerators, inside and outside the store in all weather conditions, and inside delivery trucks.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent.
Proficiency in Spanish or other languages, which is a plus in certain locations.

Responsibilities

Maintain schedule adherence and punctuality.
Operate the cash register efficiently and meet checkout performance standards, including transaction time and accurate handling of cash, EBT, debit and credit cards, WIC vouchers, gift cards, and coupons.
Follow checkout and cash-handling procedures and policies.
Handle, stock, and maintain grocery, frozen, dairy, smoked meat, and other perishable products according to company standards.
Assist with unloading delivery trucks and stock products on platforms, shelving, peg hooks, in baskets, and in refrigerated cases as needed.
Use power and non-powered equipment and hand tools to move stock after receiving proper training.
Retrieve carts from the parking lot.
Maintain excellent store conditions and a safe, clean working environment.
Complete assigned cleaning duties, including cleaning floors, windows, display cases, shelves, register areas, backrooms, restrooms, parking lots, and other fixtures.
Provide friendly and courteous customer service.
Assist store management in training other store employees.
Maintain proper rotation of dated and undated products.
Ensure products have price tags or signs and are displayed according to company guidelines.
Protect company property, funds, and merchandise.
Properly display, trim, package, and fill authorized fresh produce.
Assist Fresh Meat personnel as needed, including wrapping packages, weighing and tagging products, and stocking meat packages.
Perform other assigned duties, including working in other store areas.
