About The Position

Create an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service and maintain a safe, clean environment that encourages customers to return. Assist the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals and monitor established quality assurance standards. The role supports customers with product information, suggestions, samples, specials, and orders; maintains product freshness and quality; and labels, stocks, and inventories merchandise. It also supports food safety, temperature monitoring, workplace safety, equipment maintenance, and reporting discrepancies, accidents, risks, and illegal activity. The essential functions must be performed with or without reasonable accommodation.

Requirements

• Must be 18 or older.
• Ability to handle stressful situations.
• Effective communication skills.
• Knowledge of basic math, including counting, addition, and subtraction.

Responsibilities

• Promote trust and respect among associates and maintain a positive attitude.
• Create a welcoming environment for customers and answer questions about products sold in the department and throughout the store.
• Maintain knowledge of department products and answer questions or make suggestions.
• Offer product samples to help customers discover items or products they inquire about.
• Inform customers of grocery specials.
• Provide customers with fresh products they have ordered and recommend grocery items to meet their needs.
• Check product quality and freshness, review sell-by dates, and take appropriate action.
• Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
• Report product ordering or shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
• Follow food safety regulations and guidelines; maintain proper case and cooler temperatures and temperature logs.
• Comply with safety procedures, reinforce safety programs, identify unsafe conditions, and notify store management.
• Inspect equipment for preventive maintenance and notify the appropriate department or store manager of items needing repair.
• Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
• Report safety risks or issues and illegal activity, including robbery, theft, or fraud.
• Perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
