About The Position

Assists the Grocery Manager and Grocery Third Person with operating the Grocery Department, including supervising and training personnel and performing ordering, receiving, storing, pricing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising duties. Helps plan, organize, and direct the department’s day-to-day operations and implement company merchandising policies and Store Director instructions. Directs and controls the entire store in the absence of the Store Director, Grocery Manager, and Grocery Third Person. Supports customer service and customer relations, controls shrink, prevents the sale of out-of-code products, and ensures compliance with sanitation, safety, security, and other company policies. May open and close the store and act as a backup cashier. This is a safety-sensitive position.

Requirements

Thorough understanding of overall Company practices, policies, and procedures.
Strong written and oral communication skills, leadership and interpersonal skills, and proven ability to manage and develop people.
Ability to maintain composure when dealing with customers, vendors, and coworkers; work alone with minimal supervision; and work effectively as a team player.

Ability to interact effectively with personnel at all levels, customers, vendors, and the public; judge and react to business activity.
Knowledge of basic mathematics, weights and measures, product variety, product location, and perishability.
Ability to stand and walk for long periods; reach, lift, stack, and maneuver objects up to approximately 80 pounds; and possibly climb ladders.
Ability to properly stack and operate fully loaded hand trucks and pallet jacks; manual dexterity and good eye-hand coordination.
Mental alertness to ensure safe and accurate completion of work activities.
Ability to work at different times of day with little or no supervision, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Ability to use cleaning supplies, chemicals, and safety cutters as needed.
Comply with Company policies, including attendance, grooming standards, and dress code.

Responsibilities

Champion Company and Division customer service programs to meet or exceed customer service goals.
Handle customer relations positively, including resolving complaints effectively, and promote personalized service.
Perform ordering, receiving, storing, pricing, stocking, rotating, and merchandising duties.
Assist the Grocery Manager and Grocery Third Person with planning, organizing, and directing day-to-day Grocery Department operations.
Assist in implementing Company and Division merchandising policies and Store Director instructions.
Control shrink and prevent the sale of out-of-code products.
Ensure compliance with Company sanitation, safety, security, and other policies; initiate corrective action as needed.
Direct and control store operations in the absence of the Store Director, Grocery Manager, and Grocery Third Person.
Open and close the store; may act as a backup cashier.
Use suggestive selling and other sales techniques.
Perform all duties accurately, honestly, and with integrity, and complete other assigned duties.
