About The Position

Assists the Grocery Manager and Grocery Third Person with operating the Grocery Department, including supervising and training personnel and performing ordering, receiving, storing, pricing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising duties. In the absence of the Store Director, Grocery Manager, and Grocery Third Person, directs and controls the operation of the entire store. The role supports customer service, department operations, merchandising, loss prevention, and compliance with company policies. This is a safety-sensitive position because assigned duties could affect the safety or health of the employee or others.

Requirements

Thorough understanding of overall Company practices, policies, and procedures.
Strong written and oral communication skills, good leadership and interpersonal skills, and proven ability to manage and develop people.
Ability to remain composed when dealing with customers, vendors, and coworkers, including during interruptions and customer complaints.
Ability to work alone with minimal supervision and to work as part of a team.
Friendly, courteous, and takes initiative; able to interact effectively with personnel at all levels, customers, vendors, and the public.
Ability to judge and react to business activity.
Knowledge of basic mathematics, weights and measures, product variety, product location, and product perishability.
Ability to stand and walk for long periods; reach, lift, stack, and maneuver objects of varying dimensions and weights up to approximately 80 pounds; and possibly climb ladders.
Ability to properly stack and operate fully loaded hand trucks and pallet jacks.
Manual dexterity, good eye-hand coordination, and mental alertness to complete work safely and accurately.
Ability to work at different times of day with little or no supervision, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
May use cleaning supplies, chemicals, and safety cutters.
Must comply with Company policies, including attendance, grooming standards, and dress code.

Responsibilities

Champion Company and Division customer service programs to meet or exceed Division customer service goals.
Handle customer relations positively, including resolving complaints effectively, and promote Albertson’s personalized-service philosophy.
Perform ordering, receiving, storing, pricing, stocking, rotating, and merchandising duties.
Assist the Grocery Manager and Grocery Third Person in planning, organizing, and directing the Grocery Department’s day-to-day operations.
Assist with implementing Company and Division merchandising policies and Store Director instructions.
Control shrink and prevent the sale of out-of-code products.
Ensure compliance with sanitation, safety, security, and other Company policies; initiate corrective action as needed.
Open and close the store.
May act as a backup cashier.
Use suggestive selling and other sales techniques.
Perform all job duties accurately, honestly, and with integrity.
Perform other necessary and required duties as assigned.
