About The Position

The Grocery Fourth Person assists the Grocery Manager and Grocery Third Person in operating the Grocery Department. The role supports personnel supervision and training, ordering, receiving, storing, pricing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising. In the absence of the Store Director, Grocery Manager, and Grocery Third Person, this position directs and controls the operation of the entire store. The position champions customer service, responds positively to customer concerns, and helps maintain company policies and standards for merchandising, sanitation, safety, security, and product quality. The Grocery Fourth Person may open and close the store and provide backup cashier support. The role requires working independently and with a team, including at varying times of day and on nights, weekends, and holidays. This is a safety-sensitive position. Work takes place in a temperature-controlled store and may involve cold cases, coolers, freezers, receiving and loading areas, and occasional outdoor work. Physical duties include standing and walking for extended periods, handling objects weighing up to approximately 80 pounds, and possibly climbing ladders.

Ability to properly stack and operate fully loaded hand trucks and pallet jacks.
Manual dexterity, good eye-hand coordination, and mental alertness to complete work safely and accurately.
Ability to work at different times of day and on nights, weekends, and holidays.
Ability to comply with Company policies, including attendance, grooming standards, and dress code.

Responsibilities

Champion Company and Division customer service programs to meet or exceed customer service goals.
Handle customer relations positively, including effectively resolving customer complaints and promoting Albertson’s personalized-service philosophy.
Perform ordering, receiving, storing, pricing, stocking, rotating, and merchandising duties.
Assist the Grocery Manager and Grocery Third Person with planning, organizing, and directing the Grocery Department’s day-to-day operations.
Help implement Company and Division merchandising policies and Store Director instructions.
Control shrink and prevent the sale of out-of-code products.
Ensure compliance with Company sanitation, safety, security, and other policies, and initiate corrective action as needed.
Open and close the store and, as needed, provide backup cashier support.
Use suggestive selling and other sales techniques.
Perform all job duties accurately, honestly, and with integrity.
Perform other necessary and assigned duties and responsibilities.
