About The Position

The Grocery Fourth Person assists the Grocery Manager and Grocery Third Person with operating the Grocery Department. The role supports supervision and training of personnel and performs ordering, receiving, storing, pricing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising duties. In the absence of the Store Director, Grocery Manager, and Grocery Third Person, this position directs and controls the operation of the entire store. The role promotes company customer-service programs and handles customer relations, including resolving complaints. It helps plan and direct daily department operations, follows merchandising policies and instructions, controls shrink, and prevents the sale of out-of-code products. Responsibilities also include ensuring compliance with company policies, opening and closing the store, and potentially providing backup cashier coverage. This is a safety-sensitive position involving duties that could affect the health or safety of the employee or others.

Ability to reach, lift, stack, and maneuver objects of varying dimensions and weights up to approximately 80 pounds; may need to climb ladders.
Ability to properly stack and operate fully loaded hand trucks and pallet jacks.
Manual dexterity, good eye-hand coordination, and mental alertness to complete work safely and accurately.
Ability to work at different times of day, with little or no supervision, and on nights, weekends, and holidays.
Ability to comply with Company policies, including attendance, grooming standards, and dress code.

Responsibilities

Champion Company and Division customer-service programs and meet or exceed customer-service goals.
Handle customer relations positively, including resolving customer complaints, and promote Albertson’s personalized-service philosophy.
Perform ordering, receiving, storing, pricing, stocking, rotating, and merchandising duties.
Assist the Grocery Manager and Grocery Third Person in planning, organizing, and directing daily Grocery Department operations.
Assist with supervising and training personnel.
Help implement Company and Division merchandising policies and Store Director instructions.
Control shrink and prevent the sale of out-of-code products.
Ensure compliance with Company sanitation, safety, security, and other policies, and initiate corrective action as needed.
Open and close the store; provide backup cashier coverage when needed.
Use suggestive selling and other sales techniques.
Direct and control the entire store in the absence of the Store Director, Grocery Manager, and Grocery Third Person.
Perform all duties with accuracy, honesty, and integrity.
Perform other necessary and required duties as assigned.
