Grocery Department Manager
About The Position
The Grocery Department Manager oversees the Grocery Department’s daily operations, including customer service, sales, department readiness, merchandising, inventory, and compliance. The role is hands-on and fast-paced, with responsibility for maintaining strong in-stock conditions, accurate pricing, and high merchandising standards while contributing to store performance and a positive shopping experience. The manager hires, trains, coaches, schedules, and develops grocery associates; supports their performance and teamwork; and ensures the department is clean, organized, well-stocked, and operated in accordance with company standards. The position requires flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as well as the ability to handle products and work in coolers and freezers.

- Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry products and work in coolers and freezers.
- Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Reliable attendance and compliance with company safety policies and Code of Business Conduct.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily Grocery Department operations, focusing on customer service, sales, and department readiness.
- Provide friendly, prompt, knowledgeable customer service and professionally resolve customer concerns.
- Keep shelves, displays, and aisles clean, full, front-faced, and merchandised to company standards.
- Execute planograms, promotional sets, seasonal transitions, and weekly ad merchandising.
- Manage ordering, inventory levels, product rotation, and backroom organization.
- Monitor shrink and implement procedures to reduce waste and loss.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, safety, and operational standards.
- Hire, train, coach, schedule, and develop grocery associates while fostering a positive team environment.
- Analyze sales, labor, and inventory data to drive results.
