About The Position

The Grocery Clerk is responsible for delivering remarkable customer service through product knowledge, efficient service, and a friendly attitude. The role includes a variety of retail tasks related to products, customer service, and merchandising. The work environment is typical of a retail store, with noise levels ranging from quiet to loud and temperatures varying from regular store conditions to cooler areas. Minimal sitting is required. The employer may revise the job description and assign other duties as business or workplace conditions change.

Requirements

• Be at least 18 years of age.
• Be highly organized and attentive to detail.
• Have strong listening and communication skills.
• Be able to handle lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, bending, and twisting while handling products or using equipment.
• Be able to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Regularly stand, bend, reach, push, pull, lift, carry, and walk around the store.

Responsibilities

• Greet vendors and build rapport with them.
• Maintain a friendly, outgoing attitude through appropriate eye contact and body language.
• Respond effectively to customer questions.
• Stock products and maintain product displays according to merchandising standards.
• Perform basic department cleaning and upkeep.
• Follow safety and sanitation procedures to ensure quality service and products.
• Use a baler if required, provided the employee is at least 18 and has proper training.
• Perform other duties as assigned or required.
