About The Position

The Grocery Clerk maintains an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness and interactive engagement, with an emphasis on providing fast, friendly customer service. Duties are performed primarily in the Grocery department and back room. The role may involve exposure to various temperature changes and work environments, and includes walking, standing, lifting, moving, carrying, and stocking products, as well as interacting with customers, associates, truck drivers, and vendors.

Requirements

• Able to deliver friendly, courteous, and prompt customer service.
• Able to read, write, and do simple math problems.
• Able to interpret, understand, and follow instructions.
• Must join a union.
• Must be able to pass a drug and background check.
• Must have a flexible schedule.
• Able to work well with others as a team member.
• Previous grocery store or retail experience.
• A passion for serving people.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service, including greeting customers, responding to questions, and handling money.
• Rotate products, check that they are within date, and display them properly on shelves according to category.
• Unload products from trucks, organize the stock room, and fill assigned areas on the sales floor.
• Operate back-room equipment, including a pallet jack, baler, compactor, and scrub machine.
• Clean cases and shelves; mop and sweep the sales floor or stock room; and clean dairy coolers, bathrooms, and the break room.
