Grind/Wash Laborer
About The Position
The Grind/Wash Laborer prepares steel racks for painting by grinding rough areas with an electric hand grinder and washing the racks with a power washer. This is a full-time, first-shift position, Monday through Friday, from 5:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. When overtime is required, the end time is 3:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday; there is no Friday overtime. Required Saturday overtime hours are 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Starting pay is $15 per hour, with evaluations at 30, 60, and 90 days that provide an opportunity to earn more. The role reports to the Weld Supervisor and is classified as non-exempt.
Responsibilities
- Operate an electric hand grinder for at least eight hours per day, five days per week, to grind rough areas on steel racks.
- Operate a power washer for at least eight hours per day, five days per week, to wash steel racks for painting preparation.
- Lift, push, and pull materials weighing up to 60 pounds individually; handle heavier loads with a team lift.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
