Greenhouse Associate - Switcher Driver & Additional Support
About The Position
A successful Switcher safely and promptly moves trailers between docks within the facility in a fast-paced setting. The role also supports dock and other labor teams throughout the division as needed. The position does not supervise or directly manage a team. The work is primarily outdoors, with occasional work between locations and in an indoor office environment for administrative duties, which may involve computers and standard office equipment. The employee must be able to work in outdoor elements, including dust and allergens, and may occasionally work on scaffolding. The role requires regular standing, sitting, squatting, bending, reaching, and twisting, and the ability to lift up to 30 pounds unassisted. English fluency sufficient to read, write, and understand is required.
Requirements
- At least 1 year of experience driving a switcher or OTR trailer.
- An active driver's license that allows the employee to drive in the given state.
- Ability to read, write, and understand English.
- Ability to work in all outdoor elements, including dust and allergens.
- Ability to regularly stand, sit, squat, bend, reach, and twist.
- Ability to consistently lift up to 30 pounds unassisted.
- Ability to operate machinery required within the department and facility, including appropriate switcher trucks.
- Detail-oriented, accurate, reliable, able to multitask, and a team player.
Responsibilities
- Drive 18-wheelers from dock to dock within the facilities.
- Ensure a safe work environment.
- Communicate with dock crews, drivers, and other switchers throughout the facility.
- Conduct yard checks.
- Operate the fuel truck when needed.
- Complete dock work as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
