About The Position

An Appointed Category 3 position under the general supervision of the Deputy Finance Director, develops, coordinates, administers, and monitors the City's grant program while providing professional accounting support within the Administrative Services Department. Responsibilities include identifying grant opportunities, preparing competitive grant applications, coordinating grant compliance and reporting, serving as liaison between City departments and funding agencies, and performing assigned accounting functions. This is a one-year contract position, pending future funding based on the success of establishing a citywide grant administration program and associated return on investment. The position will be evaluated for future funding to determine if a permanent citywide grant administration program is feasible.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, public administration, finance, business administration, communications, English, or a closely related field.
  • Two years of progressively responsible experience in grant writing, grant administration, governmental accounting, public finance, budgeting, or a related field preferred.
  • Requires a valid Utah driver’s license.
  • Knowledge of grant administration, governmental accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, grant compliance, and municipal operations.
  • Responsibility for important City records dealing with confidential matters; great responsibility for the care, condition, and use of materials, equipment, money, and tools.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with strong technical writing ability.

Nice To Haves

  • Grant Professional Certification (GPC) or Certified Grants Management Specialist (CGMS) preferred.
